Mrs. IM and I took Toby out today for a hike with some lovely views above the San Joaquin River. I have posted before about a couple of hikes we have taken along the San Joaquin River Trail.
I would love to hike the full 16 miles of the San Joaquin River Trail in a day. Mrs. IM and I have set this as a goal. On one end (where we would start) takes you up Pincushion Mountain, which I posted about last week when we hiked the peak last weekend. I have posted before about the other end of the trail, which runs along the San Joaquin River Gorge. Today, we hiked down the gorge from an access point on Wellbarn Road.
This was about a 5 mile round trip where you go down the gorge on a dirt road, hike the actual SJRT for about a quarter mile, and then go back up the road. We had a good time, and the views of the San Joaquin River are spectacular from where we were.
Toby found a burned out tree that had a nest of birds living in the trunk. He really wanted to dig open the tree and kill them. We did not allow him to do this, but hearing them chirping inside the tree drove him crazy
Fortunately, no birds were harmed in the taking of these photos. He reluctantly listened when I called him off because he is a good and obedient boy.
